Something that I love to hear in a song are alternative bass notes to standard chords. It’s a great way to add extra interest to a song without making a full chord change and can transform a dull, boring chord pattern into a masterpiece…BUT IT SHOULD BE USED SPARINGLY!! If it’s over done it can sound pretty awful..so choose your moment well!!

If you are in a band and have a bass player then it sounds very effective to get them to play the bass note along with your chord too.
