This is a very nice but simple speed lick from Jamorama. It takes just a few hours of practice to start getting up to speed but really the faster you can play it this more effective it sounds. It’s gonna really WOW your listeners though when you drop this into one of your songs, so it’s worth sticking at until you get it down and dirty!
Here’s how you play it. Blue, Red, Green, Purple, in those blocks so it runs up the fret board on B and E string. So the first 3 notes in blue are played on B string and the second 3 notes in blue are played on the E string in a 123, 123, pattern and then same goes for the red notes and so on. Fast and smooth is what you are aiming for with this
.
Just so as you know, this is in the key of A, however the pattern can be shifted around to any key.
Here’s something that I’ve picked up from practicing this; I’d say that most beginners to guitar playing imagine that all the hard work is done by the left hand (assuming you’re right handed) when trying to play notes at speed..WRONG!! The thing to really concentrate on is an ‘up down up down’ picking style, and guaranteed if you are struggling with speed licks then it will more than likely be your right hand picking badly that is going to be tripping you up, not necessarily your fretting hand.
Anyhow, good luck with the lick and really stick with it try and nail it down. It’s well worth it!
